CV THOMAS LEHMEN

Thomas Lehmen is born 1963 in Oberhausen, Germany. He is freelance choreographer, dancer and teacher. From 1986 to 1990 he studied at the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam.

From 1990 to 2010 he lived in Berlin. Here he developed many soli, group works and projects: amongst others "distanzlos, "mono subjects, "Schreibstück", "Funktionen", "It’s better to...", "Lehmen lernt".
Since 2011 he lives again in North Rhine-Westphalia and produced the works "Schrottplatz" and "Bitte...". His works are performed worldwide.

His returning interests are communications and the human beings which reflect themselves in their surroundings and activly creates these with creative relations.

The approaches often show often linguistic elements and conceptional methods and expressions. In the dance component he works amongst others with interrelations of dancers and danced dialogues.

He teaches at universities, e.g. Amsterdam, Hamburg, Berlin, Reykjavik, Jakarta, Gießen, Arizona State University and gives workshops on international scale as well.

In the teaching he works amonst others with the themes mentioned above, as well as choreographic systems, which aim towards an individual artistic composition within social coherences.
