Like the hero in all good ald hero-stories from all over the world, the artist is working with similar elements. One has to make a journey, has to go over borders, is tested, meets a medium, enters a space where one is not really familiar with, experiences life and death and wonders. He sees things, people, or himself changing into something else.
Based on this mechanisms, Thomas Lehmen studies the analogy between the root of the hero-topic and the work of an artist, who is also operating in known and unknown areas and is still dealing with undefined correlations.
Specially to prepare and enter a space which is still unknown, but making it useable, seems to be a comparable metaphor for the work of an artist. His work is operating in an area one does not really know jet how to move in, but when ready, it is necessary for people to understand and live in the world.
